Designing Scarcity

Designing Scarcity featured urban planning projects, buildings, interior objects and consumer goods that show that shortages don’t have to constrain creativity.
13 hanging tables each gave a platform to strategies such as substitution, repair, resilience or inform to find novel solutions in the face of limitation. A vast reading table provided further inspiration and let the visitor experiment with the structural elements built according to the OpenStructures grid. All building material was re-used during a final workshop, where participants could disassemble and re-use the exhibition structures in order to build their own objects which they could take home.
